Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to visit St. Augustine?

Many think that the best time to visit is November through January for the Nights of Lights! While they are not wrong St. Augustine is a great place to visit any time of the year. Spring offers cooler weather, beautiful flowers and gardens and picnics outside, Summer offers fun in the sun at the many beach destinations and water tours, Fall offers a bit of a quieter time as families are getting back to school and so it’s not always quite as hectic, and of course Winter offers the extraordinary Nights of Lights!

Is there a good time of the year to get deals?

You will need to check with the trolley services and welcome centers for deals. There are coupons available for most tours and activities throughout the year. Check out visitstaugustine.com for more offers and details.

How many days should we stay if we want to see most of St. Augustine?

There are so many things to see and do in St. Augustine that we recommend a minimum of 3-5 days. Whether you love history, beaches, art galleries, shopping or eating you can work your way through St. Augustine doing it all!

Which of the trolley services is best?

It depends on what you’re looking for in a trolley and how much time you have. The Ripley’s Red Train trolley is a one hour continuous historical tour, meaning no stops along the way just a quick tour of the city. It’s great for those with limited time and want a quick history of the city. The Old Town trolley offers the historical tour as well as hop on/hop off features so that you can get on and off at your leisure to explore your areas of interest more thoroughly.

Where can we park?

If you are staying in the Old City most everything is within walking distance so parking is not an issue. However if you are staying outside of the Old City or just coming for the day there are a few parking lots available, however, they fill up quickly. The Historic Downtown Parking Facility located at 1 Cordova St. is a favorite as it has trolley stops and the Welcome Center there as well. The Old Town Trolley also offers a beach shuttle service for those staying out at the beach. There are also many pay lots located throughout the city. Download the app on your phone.
