St. Augustine remains out of the Hurricane Milton’s cone. However, that doesn’t mean the coast is clear. St. Augustine will have Tropical Storm winds with projected gusts up to 65 mph.

The 2pm update from the National Hurricane Center states that Milton maintains a CAT 4 status with 130 mph winds at 944mb. It will continue to somewhat weaken before it makes landfall. The current position is 120 mph SW of Ft. Myers.

St. Augustine is under the following watches:

Hurricane Watch (until 9pm)

Tropical Cyclone (until 7:15pm)

Storm Surge Warning (until 7:15pm)

Flash Flood Watch (until 9pm)

High Surf Advisory (until 8pm)

***Many of these watches are expected to be extended***

The Bridge of Lions is closed to boat traffic. All bridges in St. Johns County will close once winds reach 40 mph.

Flooding will be severe in the Old City. There are suggested rainfall estimates of 5-10 inches of over the 24 hour period. Most of the businesses in the Old City are closed Wednesday and Thursday. Be very careful should you walk into the Old City because rain can cover potholes and cause ankle/foot injuries.
