September.
Yes, September.
Families typically don’t visit St. Augustine in September because school is back in session, which means homework, football, band, cheerleading, volleyball, etc. So, if you’re looking for an ideal time to visit the Old City, September is probably about as good as it gets.
It’s also a terrific time for you and your family to hit St. Augustine Beach, Vilano Beach, or the beaches near Guana-Tolomato Reserve. The beaches are not crowded and while it is typically hot, you’ll be able to enjoy the additional space and go to a nearby restaurant after splashing in the waves and soaking up the Florida sun.
Now, if you absolutely love Christmas decorations, lights, and celebrations…make it December or January when St. Augustine celebrates “Night of Lights”.
